Tao Te Ching
2026-04-12
Per my previous post, I'm starting tai chi classes tomorrow (13th April 2026). After reading Paul Brecher's Principles of Tai Chi, I wanted to learn some more about its philosophical background.
For this, I tried reading \(\overset{\text{lǎo}}{\text{老}}\overset{\text{zǐ}}{\text{子}}\)'s \(\overset{\text{dào}}{\text{道}}\overset{\text{dé}}{\text{德}}\overset{\text{jīng}}{\text{经}}\), translated by David Hinton. I must admit that most of it escaped me; the content was far too metaphorical and poetic for me.
From what I've seen so far, there seems to be little available in terms of historical accounts or scientific reviews of tai chi. This is something I hope to learn more about during my studies, and perhaps include in my upcoming blogpost.
