Cross-stitch, 2025
At the beginning of February, I started getting into cross-stitch. Now, a month later, I've finished a cross-stitch of the avatar I use on this site!
Making such complex patterns in crochet has always been rather tedious. Less so when building a flat colour base and surface-crocheting a pattern on top, but still.
I've found cross-stitch to be much faster, and though I'll admit I poked myself in the hand several times, I found it a lot more enjoyable than crochet or knitting due to not having to carry my thread or cut and tie off every time I wanted to change colour.

Canary Wharf, 2025
In January 2025, I took a business trip to London, with a few days to myself before the conference I was attending.
I took a lot of photos on this trip, but this one is probably my favourite (excluding ones that have my face, which I'm not about to put online for the world to see).
I must have spent at least an hour looking for a Tesco to get myself a meal deal. That's just a thing about me: every weekday, I get myself a meal deal from Tesco.
Brotherton Library, 2023
In 2023, while touring the University of Leeds, I visited the Brotherton library. If I recall correctly, it's the second largest university library in England. The Brotherton library building contains the main collections in arts and languages.
I ended up applying to the university of Leeds for linguistics with French and Japanese, though I later withdrew all my university applications, since I didn't have the money to make it through and knew I couldn't keep a job with my health issues at the time.
Who knows, maybe I'll end up studying at a university someday. It could be fun!

Photos from the ISS
In 2022, I had the chance to write some code to run on the Inernational Space Station with the ESA Astro Pi Challange .
These photos were taken at roughly 30 second intervals between 23:28:17 on 10th May and 02:26:01 on 11th May, starting in Suriname and ending up in the middle of the South Pacific Ocean, west of Chile and south of California.
Oxford, 2022
In the summer of 2022, I spent some time over the summer studying linguistics at the University of Oxford. I stayed at Trinity college for a few nights.
The best photo I got while I was there was of the Radcliffe Camera, which houses the Radcliffe science library. I never got to go inside, but I did get to visit the Taylor Institution Library (dedicated to the study of modern European languages), which was incredible.
Now I can truthfully tell people I studied at Oxford!
