This page is inspired by nohello.com, who preach that you should get to the point when cold-calling someone.

If you're contacting me out of the blue, you'll be much more likely to get a response to:

2010-07-19 12:32:12 you: Hi! [Thing you want to talk about]
2010-07-19 12:33:15 me: Hey! [Response to that thing]

If you just say something like "Hi" or "How are you?", you're more likely to get something like:

2010-07-19 12:32:12 you: Hi!

Generally this is a good concept to apply to all electronic communications. It saves time and emotional labour.
